Posted Wednesday, May 16, 2007 by Mike Hungerford

The varsity lacrosse team finished their regular season yesterday with a 19-3 victory over Freeport. Over the last week, the Dalers have refocused their defensive effort and held Massapequa, Port Washington, and Freeport to a combined 8 goals.

The Dalers finished the regular season with a record of 13-3, 10-2 in Conference I play. This record gave Farmingdale a second-place finish in ultra-competitive Conference I. Syosset finished as the regular season conference champion and the #1 seed in the county playoffs. This year marks the 33rd consecutive year that the Dalers have made the playoffs, and their 13 victories is the 32nd time over the last 33 years that the Dalers have achieved double-digit victories.

The Dalers were led in the regular season by attackmen C-Jay Engelke (54 goals, 17 assists, 71 points), Danny Blau (27-39-66) and Joe Bagnasco (32-22-54). This marks the first time since 1999 that all three starting attackmen have totaled over 50 points in a season.
